No matter what you do in life, stressors will come and go and challenges will attempt to obstruct you from your goals. Artists, event planners, performers, and culture bearers of all kinds are some of the most overstimulated and underserved members of our society and, especially, of our community in New Orleans and along the entire southern Gulf Coast. Many people in today's world have had to navigate a lifetime of influences which were never a part of their childhood dreams. From managing social media to the ever-present realities of mental health risks, dangers to your physical wellbeing, and the financial toll serving others can take, those who facilitate joy for others often suffer silently behind the curtain and when the audience isn't watching.
Recognizing the immense and incalculable nature of the scope of this problem, Aleck Woogmaster received Peer Support Specialist training through the state of Mississippi's Department of Mental Health in 2025 with the hope of creating programs to meet the needs of underserved communities along the Gulf Coast. This training reinforced a lifetime of learning to survive and thrive under seemingly impossible conditions. While the state-sponsored training was essentially underwhelming and underdeveloped, it helped facilitate an entire year of self-education, advocacy, and recovery which proved to be transformative not only for Aleck himself but for those already partnered with him in various capacities.
This realization led Aleck to begin cooking up a wellness initiative informed by Peer Support, but backed by pure experience, resiliency, and genuine compassion for those unable to get the help they need to address whatever problems they may be facing. As of 2026, Aleck has partnered with several individuals and organizations to be able to offer Peer Production and Coaching services to anyone facing a chronic wellness problem or issues in their creative journey as artists, performers, and people.
